Paul Harris, ARAM GRSM LRAM ARCM MTC HonTCL  :: Woodwind and Brass 

After studies at the Royal Academy of Music and the University of London, Paul has established an international reputation as one of the UK’s leading music educationalists – a career which takes him to all corners of the globe giving masterclasses, adjudicating, performing and presenting workshops.

He studied the clarinet with Professor John Davies (winning the August Manns Prize). He has over 550 publications; among them Improve Your Teaching!, The Music Teacher’s Companion, the Improve Your… Scales!, … Practice! and … Sight-reading! series, through which he has assisted young players worldwide to develop vital musical skills. His other works include a series of clarinet tutor books, numerous short education pieces, seven concertos, a ballet and a children’s opera.

He is an examiner and adjudicator, and is a judge for the BBC Young Musician of the Year and the Classic FM Teacher of the year. He is an external examiner at the Royal Academy of Music and he works regularly with NYWO. He co-authored major new biographies of Sir Malcolm Arnold and Malcolm Williamson. He is Artistic Director of the annual Malcolm Arnold Festival.

Recent performances with his chamber ensemble include the Mozart Quintet and Malcolm Arnold’s Wind Quintet Op 2. He has recorded a CD of works by lesser-known British composers.
